Evaulation

In this evaluation I will talk about my media coursework and how I made my film opening.
I'm very happy with my opening, it is how I pictured it but I do wish I could have added a little more before to the film. What I like about my film is the music, it was something very important to me I think that sound is very important to a film and it helps to show the genre of the film. My music fits in perfectly with he titles which is something I was aiming for when making the opening, I think it makes it look more interesting and exciting to the audience. I also like some of the camera angles I added and the detail to the forest.
What I didn't like about my film was the ending and how the voiceover sounded, I wanted the voice over to be more old fashioned like on a old news report. The voice over is meant to show whats happening in the film, it shows the ending of the film at the beginning to help give the audience get a deeper understanding.
My target audience are boys and girls of the ages of 15-20 years old.
I want my audience to be able to relate to the characters in my film. The different types of characters help my audience to connect to the characters. I feel that aspects of my film attracts to my audience, for example the character at the end and the mention of the other character in the film help gets an in site on what the characters are like. In some of the shots when in the woods I placed specific objects in the shot to help show what the characters are like. In one shot I set everything up like a campsite so it looked like people have been living there, this helps explain the narrative, and I put objects like lipstick and glasses to help explain that the characters are like, the lipstick helps explain of the characters is a girl who cares about her appearance and the glasses help to show one of the characters was a boy who is shown to be a little bit of a “nerd”. Putting characters like this in my film help different types of people to relate and want to watch.

I made my film look realistic by adding credits on the opening and putting the titles for production companies. I feel that my titles and credits could have been better but I am still proud of how they came out. I also think the way the music and the titles fit together helps make it look realistic because its done so closely.
In conclusion I am happy with my coursework and how my film turned out but if I could I would add little improvements.

Better Quality

Certificate

The certificate for my film is a 15 because there will be drug use and bad language. I think this a suitable certificate because it will help attract the target audience I am looking for. The things involved that make it a 15 will help the audience relate to the charcters and the film plot.

Comments on the Breakfast Club

The comments on The Breakfast Club trailer are manly girls and they talk about how the trailer excites them and makes the movie look good. These are the type of people I'm looking for as an audience.

Change in plot

My plot has changed because I thought it would be better to have a news report at the end of the clip saying how the teenagers were found dead. I think it will look better on the fim and give away the plot easier.

Voice over

I have decided to do a new report at the end of my clip. Instead of doing my original narration I am now going to do a news report of the finding of the 5 teenagers. This also means I've change the ending of the film as they are going to be found dead. I feel that this is a better ending and will look better when finished.

I would also like my news report to sound a certain way I found a clip on YouTube of how I hope my news report to sound.

Updated storyline

I have decided to add a little more to my story line because I feel that it isn't enough to be a good opening. I am going to add a person getting ready at the end of the clip and have the narration over the top of her.

Storyboard

The Breakfast Club

My film is like the film, The Breakfast Club.
I couldnt find a clip of the Opening but the ending is like the opening. I have set my opening scene like this because it helps describe the characters and the film also appeals to my target audience. My opening scene also has a naration over the top of the clips to help explain the story.

The Breakfast Club was released in 1985 and is about 5 teenagers in a detention at school on a saturday, they each have a different stereotype and ini detention they find out they have more in common than they thought. it was directed by John Hughes and stared many of the famous "Brat pack" Including Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Micheal Hall and Ally Sheedy. The Genres are comedy and Drama while mine are more mystery and drama.
The film was very popular and grossed to $38,121,485 in the USA.

My film is different in many ways but the two share the same basics of the story. 5 different people together and learn to live or become friends with eachother.
I really like the film The Breakfast Club and I used the film for inspiration for my own film. I think the film has got a good background story and it also appels to all ages but especially myy target audience which is both girls and boys at the ages of 15 to around 20. i think th film appeals to them because it is an coming of age film and teenagers find relation towards it. The use of teenagers in the films help others to relate to the storyline.
My film wil also appeal to botys because they are lost and it's a little more scary and mysterious than The Breakfast Club.
